5 Months to Go

Exactly five months, the world’s best orienteers will be gathered here, chasing seconds and precision. As we hit this milestone, the WOC 2026 machine is operating at full throttle. From publishing crucial technical data to sharing our vision on the international stage in Vilnius, here is what’s happening behind the scenes.

📍 New Terrain Awaits: Bulletin 2 & Training Camps

We have just officially released Bulletin 2 (Click to download it) for the WRE Gold events coming this March. This is a crucial step for athletes looking to test their legs before the main event.

The highlight? We are heading into Pietra Ligure and Albenga—territories that remain virtually "virgin soil" for the orienteering world.

What’s on the horizon for March:

  • WRE Gold (March): Experience the intricate urban webs of Pietra Ligure and Albenga.

  • Training Races: The weekend following the WRE will feature the Montemarcello Sprint Relay and the Brugnato Sprint.

  • Training Camps: Two full weeks of dedicated camps stretching from Savona to La Spezia, offering a complete taste of the Ligurian challenges.

🌍 WOC 2026 Takes Center Stage in Vilnius

While the maps are being refined in Italy, our leadership team is currently in Vilnius, Lithuania, for the annual IOF High-Level Event Seminar. This is the premier gathering for organizing, training, and analyzing world-class orienteering events.

Representing WOC 2026 are:

  • Gianluca Carbone (Event Director)

  • Our full team of Event Advisors: Aron Less, Peter Molnar, and Simone Grassi.

This Sunday afternoon, Event Director Gianluca Carbone, joined remotely by Technical Director Alessio Tenani, will deliver a keynote presentation to the IOF community. It’s a chance to show the world exactly what we’ve been cooking up for 2026.

The Countdown is On

Six months might seem like a long time, but it’s a heartbeat. We are ready, the terrain is waiting, and the map is clear.

See you in Liguria!
