An introductory meeting was held today in Genoa regarding the application for assignment of a World Cup round in 2024 (as part of the events for Genoa European Capital of Sport) and the Sprint World Championships in 2026, after the calendar revolution international competitions for COVID issues had blew up the application presented at the time for the 2024 World Cup.
At Palazzo Tursi, the Town Hall, were present the Deputy Mayor and Councilor for the Budget, Pietro Piciocchi, the City Councilor with responsibility for relations with the Sports Bodies, Vittorio Ottonello, the President of the C.O.N.I. Regional Ligure, Antonio Micillo, the President of FISO, Sergio Anesi and the Councilor and coordinator of the project, Gianluca Carbone.
There has been a declaration of interest from the representatives of the Municipal Administration, who have reserved the right to give an official response in the coming weeks, after having examined the proposal in the Council.
At the end of the meeting, President Anesi also met the Councilor for Major Events Paola Bordilli and the Mayor of Genoa, Marco Bucci, with whom he had a brief conversation which ended with the homage of the F.I.S.O.
