DOLCEACQUA (IM): Riccardo Scalet and Jessica Lucchetta are the new Italian Orientation Sprint champions.
Scalet returns, after last week's flu which forced him to forfeit the Marche races, and immediately puts things in order by relegating Francesco Mariani (Masi) and Ilian Angeli (Folgore) to the backup positions.
For Angeli in particular a prompt redemption after the enormous disappointment suffered in the Sprint of Recanati which had excluded him from the Knockout final. Scalet conducted an authoritative race, always in the lead, digging a huge gap between himself and the second, at the moment, 47".
Beautiful affirmation in the Elite women's field for Jessica Lucchetta (Ori Tarzo). For her the first success of her career in the top category. The excellent team day is completed by the podium of Maddalena De Biasi, 3rd.
In second place instead an always constant and concrete Caterina Dallera (North Point). However, the best time of the day in WE was set by Maelle Beauvir who we see more and more often competing in Italy.
The happiest of all seemed to be the new sprint champion: Jessica Lucchetta. "For me a first victory with a special emotion and meaning. I worked a lot in the winter to be able to improve. I have to thank my coach, Gabriele Marsura from Pieve di Soligo, who follows me and with whom I talk almost every day even at a distance". The Treviso native explains her improvement in recent months: "I felt that we could work more and I insisted on the physical part. This could have been my starting point".
A success born during the various camps: "In February I was in Spain, in Alicante, and then in Madrid. A lot of work was done on the sprint. Then we went to Puglia for the MOC Camp where the technical part was refined".
Lucchetta adds: "Certainly when you're better prepared, you make fewer mistakes. That's what happened in today's race too. A technically difficult sprint. It wasn't a perfect race, but it was certainly regular".
A group success for Tarzo: "We have been working on fast specialties for some time and the results are proving us right and motivating us".
YOUNG PEOPLE: In W20 success goes to Martina Rizzi who precedes Annarita Scalzotto and Giulia Dissette. Among the males Davide Alban surpasses Matteo Mandelli and Thomas Michelin.
In M18 Edoardo Pellegrino Tecco gets the better of Paride Gaio and Mattia Corona. Female Nastja Ferluga on Giulia Gobber and Elis Angeli.
THE ORGANIZERS: The words of Andrea Immovilli of Amateur Orienteering Genoa. "Everything went very well for us today and we are happy. The technical routes satisfied even the most demanding athletes. The collaboration with the Municipality was total and the weather helped us. Only in the final stages did it rain. Tomorrow instead we could having a more uncertain weather with the Relay in the wet would not be the best. We are however working to have another great day of sport".
Attendance: "Today we had around 350 competitors, which is a good result for us. We especially thank the Coni Delegate of Imperia, Alessandro Zunino, for his support over the last month".
For Fiso today Stefano Bisoffi, vice president, the councilors Gianluca Carbone, Daniele Guardini were present who brought the greetings of the president Sergio Anesi.
