The road to the 2026 World Orienteering Championships continues with an important institutional milestone: the official WOC 2026 press conference will be held on Friday, May 15, 2026, at 11:30 a.m. at the Sport & Health Headquarters in Genoa (Via Padre Santo 1).

Organized under the aegis of the Presidency of the Council of Ministers – Department for Sport, together with FISO and the WOC 2026 Organizing Committee, the event will officially present the upcoming World Orienteering Championships to institutions, media representatives, partners, and the wider sporting community.

The conference will highlight the significance of WOC 2026 for Liguria and for Italian sport, emphasizing the event’s international dimension and its role in promoting the values of sport, sustainability, and the enhancement of the region’s extraordinary landscape heritage.

Representatives of local institutions, together with the Presidents of FISO, CONI, and Sport & Salute Liguria, will attend the event, as members of the Italian and Hungarian national teams (Rita Maramarosi, Maddalena De Biasi, Zoltan Bujdoso, Francesco Mariani, and the coach Daniel Fehervari), present in Genoa during the same weekend for the official Test Races taking place in Sestri Levante and Campomorone. Since the press conference venue is located within one of the embargoed areas, the attending athletes and coaches will be escorted by the organizers to and from the press conference by car.

The press conference will mark another important step towards WOC 2026, bringing together institutions, athletes, organizers, and media in anticipation of one of the most prestigious events in the international orienteering calendar.

Two months to go!
